I may not be very far in the school year, I'm barely anywhere as a matter of fact. But I decided to do a recap, as this year is a little different compered to DDA 1. The course has also gone through a few changes compared to how it was last year. Mostly with our new drawing assignments, which I enjoy and hate in different ways. But is quite fun either way. I've always enjoyed drawing, but the one thing that I'm horrible at drawing, is people. The best I can come up with is some kind of tree monster with facial features too big for its head, its that bad. It's almost funny in a certain sense. But I enjoy what we'll get to sketch eventually, which I hope moves away from people. Besides this one major change, the assignments have been exactly as planned, only 3D modeling. At least we've started on the concept of Booleans, which is a topic to explain another time, but bottom line is, it's helpful. It saves time by performing tasks that other techniques did, but faster and more efficient. Overall, nothing seems out of the ordinary, everyone has gotten used to way the class moves, but apparently we're "less mature" than the other periods. That's because we're the cool class.

I was a little slow to come around to this, but here is my review on the new God of War for the PS4. While the franchise normally pushes people away because Kratos was (WAS), a bloodthirsty monster. This new installment to the series completely changes the way people look at him. Mostly because now he is a father, a terrifyingly powerful one as well. But I'm getting off track, gameplay is as fast-paced and as exciting as the previous games, but has a new camera view and completely new aspects for combat. This is also accompanied by the incredible design the game has to offer, which runs very smoothly. In the 30+ hours that I've played this game, I didn't encounter a single issue. The world itself also runs in a creative way, with it being almost open world, with different areas to travel to. Even with all of this to offer, God of War also boasts an impressive audio track, with many songs being entirely chorus based, and others entirely instrumental. When the game first came out, I ignored it, as I thought it was going to be all violence. But the story ended up grabbing my attention, and it did not disappoint, with interesting character development, and plot that manages to keep the player hooked. The plot is actually so extensive that it would take an entire post on its own to explain it. The story is also incredibly cinematic, with every motion acted out by a real person, and modeled into the game for an extra sense of realism. Even with all of these different mechanisms to the game, the game is very friendly to beginners, reaching a level of challenge once its knows the player is ready, by providing post-game bosses to test your skill, (they are no joke). From beginning to end, this game has proven itself over and over again. No matter how you feel about the series, this new addition packs new surprises and plenty of ways to win the player over My Final Rating: 10/10 This game is an absolute masterpiece, capable of standing alone from the previous games. And deserves a chance no matter how you feel about it.
BOY
My first post of the year is quite similar to the topic of my first year in the class, as we are reviewing anyway. But the one major difference is that the main focus is now specific career requirements in the gaming industry. Our first assignment was to write a resume and cover letter for said jobs, which took much longer than I thought. The one outlier to the entire project was a small update on our portfolios, which I did right off the bat. While I made sure it related to the job I chose, I realize how important these works are after reading the article attached to this assignment. I made sure that this specific piece touched back on a few techniques I learned last year, such as textures and vertex manipulation, all within 3Ds Max. Most game design jobs have the sort of requirements I expected, such as a four year degree and proficiency in multiple types go software. But portfolio work is still the most important requirement. I've known since last year that a portfolio is the best image you provide of yourself, but this assignment truly opened my eyes to it, and now all I can see is how could have improved it. This class will become progressively harder, and my work needs to reflect that. Which means I'll have to take portfolio checks much more seriously, (which I did in the first place). This change was expected at some point, I just hoped it wouldn't be this early. I better get to work, or prepare for it at least, Because if I don't, then this class will be much harder than it already is.
